Finding Ways to Stay Safe and Still Get the Job Done

With the outbreak of COVID-19, our days are filled with coronavirus news. We applaud the heroes who work tirelessly to keep us safe and healthy.

We mourn with those who have lost loved ones and we worry about the uncertainty of what the new normal will look like.

At UBIC we have a bone-deep belief that everyone deserves to go home safe at the end of the day. To that end and because we insure businesses that come with inherent perils we often conduct on-site visits to observe safety habits, the use of PPE, and attitudes towards best safety practices.

The current workplace environment has introduced new challenges to on-site visits including social distancing and other important safety measures. For safety meetings and training we can and are using Zoom to host virtual meetings. But what about when you actually need to be on-site?

Recently our team came up with the idea to have one of our brokers visit the client site and use FaceTime to observe the construction crew at work and to interview the supervisor from the recommended safe distance of 6 feet. I was impressed with this simple yet innovative way to use technology and still maintain our most important core value.

As we move forward towards a new normal way of life and doing business, we will continue to do everything we can to help keep everyone safe because at the end of the day everyone deserves to go home safe.
